Tell us about yourself
I am a Human Resources Manager. I moved to the legal sector joining John Hodge Solicitors in January 2018. I have since obtained the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Level 3 Certificate in HR practice and the Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management. In my role as HR Manager, I work closely with the Managing Partner's to support and administer all Human Resources functions for the firm including, but not limited to, employee benefits, training and development, performance, and recruiting.
What do you offer clients of John Hodge Solicitors?
Whilst I do not work directly with clients, my support of all employees across the firm at John Hodge Solicitors helps to ensure that we attract and retain a workforce of highly skilled legal advisers who put our client's needs at the heart of what we do. I source candidates that have expert skills and experience who ideally live in the locality to our offices and are committed to serving the legal needs of their community.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I am truly a people person: I am very passionate about strong, effective communication and each individual in the team feeling happy, engaged, and part of the team. I really enjoy working with and supporting the Heads of Departments to achieve this. Being an HR generalist, my tasks are varied and no two days are ever the same. The role is both challenging and rewarding which supports my personal development.
What do you think makes a good HR Manager?
Having a good understanding of the business and its objectives helps me to ensure that our human resources meet the business needs as determined by our clients and the Partners at John Hodge Solicitors. Having the ability to coach and mentor line managers to better understand each individual in their team, enables them to function more effectively as leaders and promote an inclusive team culture.
